Evaluation on Workability of Hard Cutting Materials (1st Report)
Kunihiko OKADA
The end milling characteristic of SUS630 (H900) materials is experimentally studied as it is considered to be hard to machine especially. The main results are obtained as follows. (1) Relating to the tool wear, coated tools (M35 and P40 equivalent materials) and cemented carbide tools (M20 and K20 equivalent materials) showed a little wear under the conditions of feed per tooth-0.1mm and depths of cut-5×0.1mm(Ad×Rd). (2) Relating to the cutting resistance, cemented carbide tools (M20 and the one equivalent to K20) have the smallest resistance for the cutting under the same conditions as mentioned above, as a result of comparison with the resultant force of both vertical and horizontal components of force.
